Drive a Jeep? It Might Have Been Recalled

2.7 million Jeep vehicles are being recalled, with fears that fires could break-out if they are rear-ended.

The recall includes 1993 to 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokees, and 2002 to 2007 Jeep Liberty's.

The NHTSA warns that a crash from behind could puncture the fuel tank, located in the rear of the vehicles, spill fuel, and potentially cause a fire. The government watchdog says the defect may have been responsible for up to 51 deaths.

Chrysler initially disagreed with the NHTSA, and refused to recall the vehicles, before changing course.

"...Chrysler Group recognizes that this matter has raised concerns for its customers and wants to take further steps, in coordination with NHTSA, to provide additional measures to supplement the safety of its vehicles," a company statement said.

Town of Hempstead Car Seat Inspection Program

The Town of Hempstead's Car Seat Inspection program kicks-off June 5th, and will stop in various communities throughout the town this Summer.

Each event is free, and allows the Town's "child passenger safety technicians" to "properly install car safety seats and educate guardians on their proper installation," according to a Town statement.

Inspections are available by appointment, between 9am & 2pm, on the following dates:

June 5 & 6 - Uniondale Park, 710 Uniondale Avenue, Uniondale
June 12 & 15 - Baldwin Park, 3232 South Grand Avenue, Baldwin
June 19 & 20 - Rath Park, 849 Fenworth Blvd, Franklin Square
June 26 & 27 - Forest City Community Park, 3099 Morgan Drive, Wantagh

Angelina Jolie: I Had Double Mastectomy

Through an op-ed article in The New York Times, actress Angelina Jolie announced that she recently decided to have a double mastectomy, to minimize her risk of breast cancer.

Jolie, 37, just completed three months of treatment, and hopes that her story may inspire other to be checked, and know that options for treatment exist.

I remember, when 9/11 went down, my reaction was, "Well, I've had it with humanity."

But I was wrong. I don't know what's going to be revealed to be behind all of this mayhem. One human insect or a poisonous mass of broken sociopaths.

But here's what I DO know. If it's one person or a HUNDRED people, that number is not even a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a percent of the population on this planet. You watch the videos of the carnage and there are people running TOWARDS the destruction to help out. (Thanks FAKE Gallery founder and owner Paul Kozlowski for pointing this out to me). This is a giant planet and we're lucky to live on it but there are prices and penalties incurred for the daily miracle of existence. One of them is, every once in awhile, the wiring of a tiny sliver of the species gets snarled and they're pointed towards darkness.

But the vast majority stands against that darkness and, like white blood cells attacking a virus, they dilute and weaken and eventually wash away the evil doers and, more importantly, the damage they wreak. This is beyond religion or creed or nation. We would not be here if humanity were inherently evil. We'd have eaten ourselves alive long ago.

So when you spot violence, or bigotry, or intolerance or fear or just garden-variety misogyny, hatred or ignorance, just look it in the eye and think, "The good outnumber you, and we always will."
