Remembering Sid Mark

We’re deeply saddened to let you know of the passing of Sid Mark, the longtime host of WHLI Sounds of Sinatra, at the age of 88.

Sid began the show in 1956, when a listener suggested he dedicate one hour of his daily radio show to the music of Frank Sinatra.  Listeners loved the idea, which led to “Friday With Frank,” “Saturday With Sinatra,” and then in 1979, “Sounds of Sinatra,” which airs on WHLI, and many other stations nationwide.

Sid had a long friendship with Frank Sinatra, after the two met at a 1966 performance at The Sands in Las Vegas.

We send our condolences to Sid’s wife Judy, children Andy, Eric, Brian and Stacey, and grandson Jason.  The family asks that donations in his memory be made to Best Friends Animal Society, at www.bestfriends.org.

You can continue to hear Sid’s legendary work, and the timeless Sinatra songbook, on WHLI Sounds of Sinatra, Sunday mornings from 6am to 8am.
