A West Hempstead family has been cited for running a food pantry in a residential area. The police and Hempstead town code enforcement shut down for operation over the weekend
The family was giving out free food to nearly 200 people every Saturday. They say they will donate the extra food they had to churches and other pantries. It’s unclear where the initial complaint about the food pantry came from.
