Resorts World New York City received unanimous approval from its local Community Advisory Committee (CAC), marking a major step forward in its bid for one of three downstate casino licenses.
The South Ozone Park racino, which has operated at Aqueduct Racetrack since 2011, is now advancing to the next phase of the licensing process. While the approval is a significant milestone, it does not guarantee a license.
What’s next:
- Final approval review: The New York State Gaming Facility Location Board will now review the proposal.
- Board recommendation: Licensing recommendations are expected by December 1, 2025.
- Final decision: The New York State Gaming Commission plans to issue the three licenses by December 31, 2025.
If approved, Resorts World would be able to expand beyond electronic gaming machines to offer full casino games, including live table play.
