A State Supreme Court judge has ruled that the missing Democratic candidate for Nassau County Legislature will remain on the ballot this November.

Petros Krommidas of Baldwin, was nominated in March by the Nassau County Democratic Committee to challenge first-term Republican Legislator Patrick Mullaney in the 4th District, which covers South Shore communities including Long Beach and Oceanside.

Krommidas has been missing since April. Earlier this month, Democrats attempted to replace him on the ballot with Long Beach community advocate James Hodge, filing a “Certificate of Substitution” with the county Board of Elections.

Republicans sued to block the move on Sept. 11. On Monday, State Supreme Court Justice Gary Knobel sided with them, ordering that Krommidas’ name remain on the ballot.

The ruling sets up a general election matchup between Mullaney and the still-missing Krommidas.
