Heat Advisory issued for Thursday through Friday

East Farmingdale, NY- Get ready for sweltering hot temperatures to blanket Long Island. The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Nassau and Suffolk Counties in effect Thursday at 11am through Friday at 8pm. NWS says heat index values, are expected to reach between 95-104 on Thursday and between 95-100 on Friday. Experts warn that seniors and people with chronic health problems are at an increased risk from the excessive heat. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration says people who work outdoors, should schedule frequent breaks, work in shaded areas or move to air conditioned areas.
