Suffolk police are investigating a case involving a woman who was pronounced dead, taken to a funeral home, and found to be alive.

The 82-year-old woman, who was pronounced dead at the Water’s Edge Rehab & Nursing Center in Port Jefferson, was taken to O.B. Davis Funeral Home in Miller Place, and, nearly three hours after being declared dead, she was found to be still breathing.

The woman was transported to an area hospital and the case is being referred to the state attorney general’s office.
