Full LIRR service to Grand Central starts February 27

The Long Island Rail Road logo is shown on the side of a LIRR commuter train, Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Long Beach branch in Long Beach, N.Y. Speaking to a meeting of the Long Island Association Wednesday, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said $5.6 billion in upgrades will transform the Long Island Rail Road and help make up for decades of neglect. The work will involve laying 10 miles of new track to ease congestion along the busiest part of the rail road, along with the replacement of 20 miles of aging track. Stations will be renovated, parking will be added and signal switches and other equipment will be upgraded. (AP Photo/Kathy Willens)

LIRR full schedule to Grand Central will begin on February 27. No matter where or when you ride, your trip will change. Learn more about the changes coming to your branch, and download the new schedules, effective February 27.

The new LIRR service to Manhattan’s east side is the most transformative change to Long Island Rail Road service in over a century. In addition to opening a monumental new station below the historic Grand Central Terminal, there will be new schedules on every branch of the LIRR. There will be more trains running during peak hours and better reverse commuting options to Long Island. Two new tunnels between Manhattan and Queens will increase train capacity to and from New York City by 50% and improve reliability.
