Long Island mothers rallied outside Rep. Anthony D’Esposito’s office on Monday to call for a ban on assault weapons in the wake of last week’s school shooting in Nashville.

Protesters are also asking for universal background checks and to close the loopholes that allow gun shows to sell guns.

A spokesperson for Rep. D’Esposito said “The congressman remains committed to seeking a bipartisan solution that ensures firearms do not fall in the wrong hands and Americans are not made victims of gun violence.”
