Amanda Burke of Holbrook a registered nurse formerly employed at Good Samaritan Hospital has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child for slamming a two-day-old infant face down onto a bassinet.
The infant’s father recorded a video of the incident on his cellphone through the nursery window.
The parents notified other members of the nursing staff and Burke’s employment was terminated within hours of the incident.
Burke surrendered to the Suffolk County Police Department Wednesday morning and was issued a desk appearance ticket to appear at First District Court on May 2 for arraignment.
