Patrick Alexis a Hempstead man who was shot by the police in March of last year has filed a $5 million lawsuit against the village and its police department.
According to the complaint, officers used “excessive force” when they arrested Alexis.
Police said Alexis was shot because he moved toward the officers with a knife.
