Sayville School District is considering layoffs

The Sayville Union Free School District is the latest schools on Long Island that is considering layoffs due to budget deficits

Sayville Public Schools is facing a loss of at least $3.4 million. District officials say 18 teachers will retire this year and that many of those positions may not be filled. The Amityville, Sachem  and Riverhead School districts have recently announced plans to lay off staff due to budget issue.
